The Mag2Pol MasterClass is dedicated to advanced diffraction data analysis. This first edition will take place at the Institut Laue-Langevin, with further editions planned on a regular basis.

Addressing scientific challenges in complex materials often requires sophisticated data analysis methods and the combined use of multiple experimental techniques to arrive at a coherent and reliable interpretation. The Mag2Pol software project originated from the need to solve a highly specific problem in the niche field of Spherical Neutron Polarimetry. Since then, it has evolved into a versatile and generally applicable analysis platform capable of treating data from powder and single-crystal X-ray and (polarised) neutron diffraction experiments, for both constant-wavelength and time-of-flight instruments. Throughout its development, particular emphasis has been placed on user-friendliness and workflow optimisation.

This MasterClass is aimed at both early-career researchers and more experienced scientists who wish to deepen their expertise in diffraction data analysis using Mag2Pol. It combines lectures with hands-on tutorials focused on the refinement of crystal and magnetic structures from powder and single-crystal diffraction data. Special attention will be given to magnetic symmetry analysis. To ensure a high pedagogical quality and effective interaction, participation is limited to 30 attendees, who are expected to bring their own laptop with Mag2Pol installed. The participants will be selected based on their motivation and a short CV. If necessary, balance between laboratories and nationalities will be taken into account.
