The 17th International Conference on Surface X-ray and Neutron Scattering (SXNS17) will be held at the EPN campus in Grenoble, France, hosting the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) and the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) from July 15 -18, 2024.

The conference brings together researchers studying surfaces and interfaces in solid, liquid, biological, soft and hard condensed matter via neutron or X-ray (primarily using synchrotron sources) scattering techniques. Topics covered include instrumentation, studies of nanostructured surfaces and interfaces, surfaces and interfaces in soft matter, biological interfaces, magnetic thin films and interfaces, magnetic proximity effects, topological materials, emergent interfacial materials, and dynamics of surfaces, interfaces, and nanostructures.

The conference will include the following topics:

  • Instrumentation and methods
  • Studies of atomic and nanostructured surfaces and interfaces
  • Thin films and interfaces in soft matter and materials science
  • Biological membranes and  interfaces,
  • Magnetic thin films and interfaces,
  • Topological and emergent interfacial materials
  • Dynamics of surfaces, interfaces, and nanostructures.
  • Interfaces during chemical reactions and catalysis

Please note : SXNS17 attendees can benefit from a 20% reduction on their registration fees to the John White Symposium (Thursday 18th - Friday 19th July). More information about the John White Symposium can be found here :
