Getting to the ILL

Travelling to Grenoble

If you are travelling from outside of France, the best airport option is Lyon. There are regular transfers from Lyon St Exupéry to Grenoble city centre with either Flixbus https://www.flixbus.fr/ or Blablacar https://www.blablacar.fr/ that take around an hour.

It is also possible to travel from Geneva airport to Grenoble via bus (Flixbus or Blablacar as per the above links) or alternatively by train https://www.sncf.com/fr. Both take around 2.5 hours.

Arriving at ILL

The best way to get to the ILL is by tram. You will need to buy a ticket at the tram stop from one of the machines available there (with cash or card). Your ticket will need to be activated on the tram stop ticket kiosks (lined up along the tram stop) before you get on.

Take the green line B tram in the direction of ‘Oxford’. You will need to get off at the last stop which is called ‘Oxford’ and then walk for a couple of minutes in the same direction as the tram to arrive at the ILL. See the map attached to this registration form or on the Cloud for a clearer idea of how to get to the ILL.

Once you arrive at the main entrance, you will need to provide ID (driver's license not accepted) in order to receive your badge.
